Three Tips to Prepare Your Nissan for Winter Weather

Now that we are into November, the cold and frigid winter weather is just around the corner. Depending on the area of the country you live in, you may have already experienced a taste of it. Hopefully, you have already prepared your Nissan cars for winter. If you haven’t, however, here are some tips to make sure your Nissan makes it through the winter and beyond.

Look for Windshield Chips or Dings
Have you ever heard of something called “thermal stress”? It’s something that often occurs during the winter and it can destroy your windshield if it has any weakness in it at all. It starts with a small chip and the cold weather can turn it into a large crack that cannot be fixed without replacing the entire windshield. Pay a few bucks and get the small chips repaired before the cold weather arrives to avoid any further windshield damage.

Check Your Fluids
Make sure your antifreeze is 50/50, meaning half water and half concentrated antifreeze. Pure antifreeze can freeze at low temperatures which is why it is important to mix it with water. Also, check other fluids, especially your windshield wiper fluid. If you live where it snows a lot, this is going to come in very handy.

These are just a few things to keep in mind to prepare your Nissan cars for the winter weather. A couple minutes of maintenance now can save hours of repairs in the cold weather.

Nissan May Lease Batteries for Electric Cars

In an effort to calm customer fears about the high cost of batteries for electric cars, Nissan is considering a leasing program for batteries to make them more affordable.

The battery in an electric car is one of the most expensive components. It may also be one of the aspects that is keeping electric cars from becoming as popular as they could be in the mainstream auto industry. Consumers are concerned about the high bill of replacing the battery if it becomes damaged, stolen or if it simply wears out.

But with the 2010 Nissan Leaf on its way to auto dealers across the nation in the next couple years, Nissan-Renault wants to assure buyers that they are in store for an affordable car. At $30,000, it’s a great deal as long as consumers do not get stuck with the cost of replacing a battery for whatever reason. The reason Nissan can price the Leaf so low, however, is because the automaker may separate the price of the vehicle from the price of the battery.

Leasing batteries makes perfect sense. It gives the consumer more options when purchasing their vehicle and makes the battery aspect more affordable. But plans are not finalized as some officials are concerned that consumers want only one payment instead of two or three when buying a car.

Nissan Sentra Now Even More Affordable

Nissan North America announced this week that its 2010 Nissan Sentra will enjoy a reduction in price. The 2010 Nissan Sentra will drop from between $130 and $1,100, depending on the particular trim level that you choose. This is good news for fans of one of Nissan’s best vehicles.

The Nissan Sentra is popular for many reasons. One thing that most people notice when they first get into a Nissan Sentra is just how roomy this economy sedan really is. There is plenty of room for all of the vehicle’s occupants, and the ride is amazingly quiet, especially when driving on the highway.

In addition to all of this, buyers have a great number of choices and options when it comes to the Nissan Sentra. The base model has a 2.0 liter engine offering maximum economy while still maintaining decent performance. The SE-R model as well as the SE-R Spec V model have a 2.5 liter inline four cylinder, offering a little bit of psice to the mix.

The Nissan Sentra handles well, and provides an enjoyable ride overall. With the announcement that prices are dropping, it may be time for you to visit your local Nissan dealer today and see if this might be the right vehicle for you.

Nissan Powers Forward with Electric Vehicles

When it comes to electric vehicle programs, Nissan is leading the auto industry into new frontiers. Nissan vehicles that run on electricity and that can be recharged in a household outlet, will be appearing on the market over the next few years. it is expected that Nissan will begin to offer electric vehicles in both the United States and Japan in 2010, and other countries beginning in 2012.

Nissan will reveal its new electric car, which will be mass produced, on August 2nd. The car is based on the Nissan Versa, but will have a different exterior design. The car will seat five people and will be able to go 100 miles between charges. It is expected that the vehicle’s battery could recharge in 8 hours on a standard outlet, and in about 30 minutes at a fast charge station.

Mass production is key to being able to get these cars to market. It is expected that Nissan will be able to produce as many as 200,000 electric vehicles in the United States, 100,000 in Europe and 50,000 in Japan.

Nissan Advances Electric Vehicle Technology

Nissan vehicles are some of the most fuel efficient vehicles on the road today. Recently, Nissan has developed, in partnership with NEC Corporation, a new lithium-ion battery that may take the idea of the all-electric car and make it much more feasible for today’s market.

These advances suggest that a new electric vehicle could go as far as 100 miles between charges, and would have a smaller, lighter battery. 100 miles is a significant leap over the 40-mile range of many early Electric Vehicles. that relied on nickel-metal-hydride batteries.

These newer batter advancements give the manufacturer the option of packaging them into the Nissan vehicle easier, and make it easier for Nissan to get an electric car to the mass market.

Over the next three years, Nissan will invest billions of dollars to introduce an electric car in the U.S., as well as other markets. A concept version of Nissan’s electric car will be shown in Japan in August. Nissan’s electric car will start selling in the U.s. some time in 2010.

The Nissan Cube EV

The Nissan Electric Vehicle prototype has been seen by auto industry enthusiasts and experts in Detroit, and this prototype all-electric Nissan Cube hasn’t failed to impress. The Cube electric prototype is one of the most sophisticated of the Electric Vehicles on the market and in design today.

One of the most noticeable things about the Cube EV is that it is quiet. It obviously doesn’t have the noise of pistons firing and other noises that you get from a gas engine, but it doesn’t have the high-pitched electrical whine that is so often the case with other Electric Vehicle prototypes.

The Nissan EV will be designed as a city vehicle, able to travel 70 miles on a single charge. It will serve very well as a second car for families who may rely on a gas-powered vehicle for longer trips and the EV for city driving.

The earliest that Nissan will release their Electric Vehicle will be in 2010. In the meantime, check out all of the amazing Nissan vehicles at your local Nissan dealer today.

Nissan Vehicles Highlighted in New Campaign

One area that Nissan vehicles have really excelled in over the past few years is its marketing and advertising campaigns. Whether it is featuring their latest car on the top television shows, or whether it’s innovative use of the Internet, Nissan marketing has been stellar.

One of the most recent marketing efforts from Nissan has focused on a new direction. This advertising campaign, which uses print, direct mail, online and broadcast media, focuses on third-party recommendations of Nissan vehicles.

One commercial, for example, talks about a competitor of the Nissan Altima. It is described in the words of auto magazines as “perfectly boring” and “dull as dishwater.” The announcer then says, “Quality doesn’t have to be boring,” and highlights the Nissan Altima.

The campaign uses the words of some of the leading authorities in the automotive world to get the point across that Nissan vehicles are some of the best vehicles on the road today.

If you’re like many people, you’re looking forward to a trip or two in your Nissan vehicle this summer. Whether you’re traveling across the country, or whether you’re driving somewhere closer to home, here are some things that can make your summer trip safer, happier and less expensive:

First, make sure you keep up on some basic maintenance during the summer to prevent breakdowns. You should check your fluids, including oil, coolant, power steering and brake, before you take long trips. Check those tires, too, to make sure they’re inflated properly and not showing signs of wear.

More and more, its becoming popular for families to find local destinations – sometimes called “daycations” – rather than farther trips. Consider spending a day at the local zoo, or visit a strawberry farm to pick some fresh fruit.

Finally, when you are traveling, make sure your vehicle is well stocked. Have snacks and water, so you can avoid hunger and dehydration. Make sure you have an emergency kit, in case the unexpected happens.

One of the best ways to get the most from your summer trips is in a new Nissan vehicle. Come and see your local Nissan dealer and find the vehicle that’s right for you today.
