Nissan’s Global Vehicle Output Up 9.6%

October 27, 2008 | | Comments 0

Nissan’s global vehicle output has risen 9.6% in the April to September period, representing an increase from the same period of last year. Overseas production rose 2% to 1,117,187 units, while domestic output increased 25.8% to 649,798 units.

Nissan’s boosting of domestic output is notable, as it demonstrates where the bulk of the production is occuring and may offer some clues as to the company’s success. By focusing on more domestic production and realizing the risks with international production in the economic downturn, Nissan proves that they are able to shift their focus and maintain quality production standards in a difficult time.

Nissan also said domestic vehicle sales declined 4.3% to 317,808 units. But exports surged 45.4% to 400,457 units. The link here is interesting, as Nissan’s global exporting is doing rather well. By making products domestically, the company is able to gain in the export market AND save by using home products and services to create new vehicles. It’s a win-win situation for Nissan, even with the economic downturn, and it proves that a resourceful car company can still gain ground in today’s tricky markets.

How the rest of the year will play out for Nissan remains to be seen, of course, but the car company does appear to be confident in its abilities. For more information on Nissan cars and other products, keep it locked right here.
