Nissan GT-R in League With Porsche Carrera
The new Nissan GT-R is joining an exclusive club of American and European supercars. The Japanese auto manufacturer has joined the ranks of the Porsche, Viper, Ferrari and Lamborghini as a car that can go faster than most in the world.
Nissan claims the new Nissan GT-R can circuit the famous Nurburgring course in Germany in just 7 minutes 38 seconds. That’s faster than all but the Carerra.
The GT-R has not yet been made available in the US market but has been drawing legions of fans as it has been featured in popular racing games and movies. Only 12,000 of the models will be sold worldwide, and only fifteen hundred of them will be available for purchase Stateside. Theoretically, the car will be available at 676 of the country’s 1070 Nissan dealerships, but competition will be fierce. Experts are predicting that the purchase price of these rare beauties will far exceed the sticker price based on demand alone.
Considering the fact that the rest of the vehicles in the “supercar” class run well into sticker prices in the six figure range, the $76,000 it costs to buy a Nissan GT-R should be categorized as a bargain.
With a top speed of 193 miles an hour, the GT-R is bound to get noticed no matter where in the world you live. Nissan’s statistics show the car can go zero to sixty in 3.5 seconds, while a Car and Driver reviewer claimed to be able to do it in 3.3. Definitely a super car, no matter what your definition.
